Most patients are satisfied with the results of their laser surgery. However, like other medical procedures, there is a risk that could arise. That is why it is important to understand the limitations and possible complications from surgery. Before the lasik procedure, you should carefully consider the risks and benefits based on individual assessment, and trying to avoid the influence of friends who have had the procedure or doctors encouraging you to do. These risk factors are: * Some patients lost their eyesight sharp. Some patients lose lines of vision on the chart visus which can not be corrected with eyeglasses, contact lenses, or surgery as a result of treatment. * Some patients suffer from visual symptoms of decline. Some patients complained glare, halos, and / or double vision that can seriously affect nighttime vision. Even with a good visus visus on the chart, some patients do not see as well in low contrast situations, such as at night or in fog, after treatment than before treatment. * You may be below or above the normal visus. Only a few percent of patients achieve 20/20 visus without glasses or contacts. You may need additional treatment, but additional treatment is not possible. You may still need glasses or contact lenses after surgery. This may be true even if you only need a prescription before surgery. If you use reading glasses before surgery, you may still need glasses for reading after surgery. * Some patients may develop severe dry eye syndrome. Some results of the surgery, your eye may not be able to produce enough tears to keep the eye moist and comfortable. This condition can become permanent. Drop intensive therapy and use of eye drops or other procedures that may be required. * Results are generally not as good in patients with very large refractive errors of any type. You should discuss your expectations with your doctor and realize that you may still need glasses or contacts after surgery. * For some farsighted patients, results may reduce the age. If you see far, the level of improved vision after the surgery you may experience decreases with age. This can happen if you make refraction (an exam with lenses before visus midriatil drops) is very different from your cycloplegic refraction (a visus examination with a lens after dilating drops / pupil dilation). * Exchange rate is unknown length. LASIK is a relatively new technology. The first laser was approved for LASIK eye surgery in 1998. Therefore, long-term safety and effectiveness of LASIK surgery is not known.
